Slipforming

Our circular formwork systems are individually configured for every project. The basic type – cylindrical formwork with aluminium load-bearing structure and stainless steel panels – is adapted to diameter, wall thickness, height and special requirements.

Silos (single and silo blocks), large-capacity silos, tanks and containers, LNG tanks, chimneys and stacks, circular structures of all kinds. Diameters from a few metres to over 90 m, heights up to 250 m and beyond.

Cylindrical formwork with variable radius adjustment. Special formwork for tapering structures. Combination formwork for cross-section changes during the slipforming process. All systems compatible with MONOBOX^®/MULTIBOX^®, BETOMAT^® and our working platform infrastructure.

Not everything built with slipforming is circular. Stair cores, lift shafts, fire walls, waste incineration plants and other special structures require rectangular or complex formwork systems.

Stair cores and lift shafts (rectangular, L-shaped, U-shaped). Fire walls and fire compartments. Silo blocks with multiple chambers. Power plant structures and waste-to-energy plants. High-bay warehouses and industrial special structures.

Our special formwork systems consist of straight formwork elements that can be combined at any angle. The MONOBOX^® provides complete safety protection even for complex floor plans.

The assembly of the slipform is the first step on site. Our assembly teams bring the pre-fabricated formwork elements from Nenzing and set them up on site – typically within 1–3 weeks, depending on project size.

Foundation surveying and axis alignment. Erection of the load-bearing structure (yokes, hydraulic jacks, climbing rods). Assembly of formwork panels and geometry adjustment. Construction of the working platform and suspended platform. Installation of BETOMAT^®, MONOBOX^®/MULTIBOX^® and lighting. Function test and trial slip.

Before the slipforming process begins, the entire formwork is surveyed and approved. All dimensions, tolerances and safety devices are documented. Concreting only begins after successful acceptance.

The slipforming process is the continuous concreting operation during which the formwork is steadily moved upward by hydraulic jacking cylinders. It is the core of every slipforming project.

Concrete placement with the BETOMAT^® in defined pour layers. Controlled raising of the formwork (3–6 m/day). Immediate curing treatment of the fresh concrete below the formwork. Continuous surveying (plumb, radius, height).

The slipping speed is controlled and adjusted based on concrete setting. Our site-managers have years of experience in controlling this process and continuously adjust parameters to temperature, concrete mix design and component geometry.

After completion of the slipforming process, the formwork is systematically dismantled. Dismantling is done by our most skilled Supervisors under highest demands in safety.

Dismantling of the enclosure and working platform. Lowering of formwork panels and load-bearing structure. Recovery of climbing rods and hydraulic jacks. Cleaning and packaging of all components. Transport to Nenzing for maintenance and storage.

Our formwork systems are designed for numerous deployments. After each project, all components are serviced, repaired or renewed as needed. This reduces costs per project and conserves resources.

Upon request, Bitschnau takes over the complete package during the slipforming process – concrete placement, cast-in items, boxouts and curing treatment from a single source.

With the BETOMAT^® as the central tool, our teams control consistency, placement height and compaction for a homogeneous result.

Anchor channels, sleeves, brackets, window and door boxouts – all installed in precise positions during the slipping cycle. Our proprietary boxout systems could be custom-made to your requirements.

Controlled curing, rubbing, floating and compound application – directly after stripping. Our curing processes ensure crack-free, impermeable and visually flawless concrete surfaces.
